We have received the following lines out of the country from
an unknown hand, occasioned by some of our late
publications.
Let Philadelphia's generous sons excuse,
Th' officious greeting of a distant muse,
Whose self neglected, and whose harp unstrung,
Has long no pleasing airs of musick sung
'Till charm'd by you again she prunes her wing,
Recalls her numbers and attempts to sing:
. . . [22 lines]
Not so up here the loud trumpet ever sounds
. . . [5 lines]
Still will I sing, nor shall my song be vain,
. . . [8 more lines]
